Reviewing and Returning Reports

Work the review queue: examine the report against its scope and return precise corrections.

Intended for: ReviewersQA and Technical Review GuidesLast updated 2026-09-18

Required permissions: A reviewer account within your organization.

Every submitted report waits for a technical review before it can be approved and released.

Before you begin

  • Open Inspection Reports
  • Filter to Submitted status

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 1

    Open the review queue

On Inspection Reports, filter by Submitted and choose Start Review on the report, its status becomes Under Review.

  2. 2

    Examine the report

Check findings against the request's scope, method, and technique sheet; confirm required details (date, location, results) are complete and internally consistent.

  3. 3

    Return with a precise reason

If correction is needed, reject with a reason that states exactly what to fix, it is recorded on the report and in the audit trail.

  4. 4

    Or advance to approval

If the report is technically sound, proceed to approval, see Approving and releasing reports.

Expected result

Sound reports move to approval; weak ones return with clear instructions.

What happens next

Approval records your signature and releases the report when delivered.
