NDT Pilot

Glossary

How NDT Pilot uses inspection-workflow and platform terminology, in the product and in these guides.

Work request
The record of an inspection job: customer, site, asset, NDT method, scope, priority, and status. Every later stage, report, delivery, invoice, traces back to it.
Inspection
The physical examination activity performed on site by qualified personnel. NDT Pilot documents and connects it; the inspection itself remains a human, technical responsibility.
Assignment
The act of scheduling a work request to a named technician with a scheduled date, producing a job package in the technician portal.
Evidence
The recorded observations, readings, and supporting information that back a finding. In NDT Pilot today this is captured in the report's findings field; structured photo and file attachment is planned.
Finding
A documented observation from an inspection, what was seen, where, and how it compares to the acceptance basis.
Technique sheet
A governed, revision-controlled instruction for performing a specific inspection, recorded with preparer, approver, and approval status (draft, approved, superseded).
Draft
A report being written. Drafts are internal: customers never see them, and reviewers do not act on them until submission.
Submitted
A report that has been handed to the review queue. It is no longer editable as a draft; corrections happen through the reviewer's return step.
Under review
A reviewer has taken the report into active technical examination.
Returned
A report the reviewer sent back for correction with a recorded reason. The technician corrects and resubmits, and both events are audited.
Approved
A report that passed technical review and carries the recorded approval signature, reviewer, and dates. Eligible for release, but not yet customer-visible until delivered.
Released
The point an approved report becomes visible to the customer, the delivery step in the platform. Before release, customers cannot see the report.
Revised
A new version of a report created after release, following the same review cycle. The original record is preserved rather than overwritten.
Superseded
A technique sheet or document replaced by a newer revision. Superseded items are retained for history, not deleted.
Withdrawn
A released document formally pulled back by the issuing company. In NDT Pilot this is handled by status and audit records on the report.
Calibration
The periodic verification of an instrument against standards. NDT Pilot records due dates, certificate references, and status, physical calibration remains a laboratory activity.
Qualification
A person's certification for a method at a level (I–III), from a certifying body, valid until an expiry date. The personnel register makes qualifications visible at assignment time.
Tenant
Your organization's isolated scope within the platform. Business records belong to a tenant, and users see their own tenant's records only.
Customer portal
The scoped view where customer contacts track their own requests, released reports, assets, and permitted invoices, with no visibility into drafts, internal comments, or other customers.
Audit event
An automatic record of a workflow action, creation, status change, assignment, submission, review, approval, delivery, invitation, with user and timestamp.
NDT method
The non-destructive testing technique a job uses, for example UT, RT, MT, PT, ET, VT, PAUT, TOFD, PMI, or hardness testing.
PO (purchase order)
The customer's authorization reference for billable work, recorded on quotations and work requests so billing traces to it.
