A pre-dispatch checklist for technician certification

Sending an uncertified or expired technician to site is an avoidable finding. A simple checklist you can apply to every assignment.

Check these before every assignment

  • Is the technician certified for this specific method (UT, RT, MT, PT, and so on)?
  • Does the certification level match the work: performing, interpreting, or approving?
  • Is the certification still valid on the inspection date, not just today?
  • Does the customer or code require a specific certification scheme, such as CGSB, ASNT, or ISO 9712?
  • Is the technician actually available, or already on another assignment?

Make it automatic

A checklist only works if it happens every time. In NDT Pilot the assignment screen runs these checks for you and blocks ineligible technicians, showing the reason. A daily check also emails administrators about certifications expiring within 30 days.

Idea to try this week

List every technician's certification expiry in date order. Anyone expiring in the next 60 days gets a renewal plan now, not when they're booked.
